Residential services: Exterior painting for Ottawa homes
Siding, trim and doors, prepared properly and painted with products made for Ottawa's freeze-thaw seasons.
Built for Ottawa weather
Ottawa exteriors go through hot summers, freezing winters and a lot of freeze-thaw in between. Paint that isn't suited to that, or goes on over poor prep, cracks and peels within a few seasons. We use exterior products made for this climate and put the time into preparation so the finish lasts.
What we paint
- Siding
- Trim, fascia and soffits
- Front doors and garage doors
- Window frames and shutters
- Porches and railings
Preparation
Loose and peeling paint is scraped off, surfaces are cleaned and sanded, gaps are caulked and bare wood or metal is primed. Plants, walkways and anything nearby are protected, and we clean up at the end of every day.
Aluminum, vinyl and wood siding
Each kind of siding needs different handling. Aluminum siding often chalks with age, so it's washed and primed where needed for the new paint to bond. Vinyl siding can be painted, but colours much darker than the original can absorb enough heat to warp it, so we stick to vinyl-safe colours and products. Wood siding and trim are scraped, sanded and primed on bare spots, and any soft or rotted wood is pointed out before we paint.
Doors, windows and trim
Front doors take sun, rain and hands every day, so they get a proper sanding and a durable exterior enamel. Window frames, sills and trim are scraped, caulked where gaps have opened and painted so water can't get in behind them.
Timing
Exterior paint needs the right temperatures to cure, so exterior work in Ottawa is seasonal. We'll schedule your job for suitable weather and tell you in advance if rain or cold moves a day. Booking early in the year gives you the best choice of dates.
Keeping it looking good
A painted exterior lasts longer with a little care: wash it once a year, keep gutters clear so water doesn't run down the walls, and touch up chips before water gets in.

Exterior Painting FAQ
Questions we get about this work.
Anything else? Ask us or call and we'll answer straight away.
When is the best time to paint the exterior?
Late spring through early fall, when temperatures suit exterior paint. Book early to get the dates you want.
Can you change the colour of my house?
Yes. A painted exterior can be refreshed in the same colour or changed completely. We'll talk through colours and products at the site visit.
What happens if it rains?
We watch the forecast and move the work if the weather isn't suitable. You'll hear from us before any change.
Can you paint vinyl siding?
Yes, with the right product and a colour that won't overheat the siding. Very dark colours over light vinyl can cause warping, so we'll help you choose a vinyl-safe colour.
How warm does it need to be to paint outside?
Most exterior paints need air and surface temperatures above about 10°C while they dry, with no rain in the forecast. Some products can go on in cooler weather. We schedule around both.
Do you paint aluminum siding?
Yes. It is cleaned to remove chalk and dirt, primed where needed and painted, which can make old aluminum siding look new again.
